Safeguarding Policy
Abi’s Sleep Story ("Abi’s Sleep Story", "we", "us", "our" or “paediatric sleep practitioner”) is committed to promoting the welfare and safety of children who engage with our services. This Safeguarding Policy outlines our commitment to safeguarding children and the procedures we have in place to protect their well-being.
Safeguarding Principles:
The welfare and safety of children is our paramount concern.
All children have the right to be protected from harm, abuse, and exploitation.
We recognise our responsibility to help create a safe and supportive environment for children and to take appropriate action if we have concerns about their welfare.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Abi’s Sleep Story adhere to the principles and procedures of this Safeguarding Policy.
Safeguarding Level 3 has been completed by Abi’s Sleep Story paediatric sleep practitioner. And is updated annually. Any concerns about the welfare or safety of a child should be reported immediately to the appropriate authorities.
Procedures:
Abi’s Sleep Story has an up-to-date DBS. This is carried out by the Disclosure and Barring Service, also known as DBS, in England and Wales.
We will maintain training procedures and up to date on recognising signs of abuse, understanding safeguarding procedures, and responding appropriately to concerns about a child's welfare.
If working directly with the child, we will obtain consent from parents or legal guardians before engaging with a child for consultation services and will ensure that children are supported and comfortable throughout the consultation process.
We will maintain open and transparent communication with parents or legal guardians and encourage them to raise any concerns they may have about their child's welfare or our services.
We will take prompt and appropriate action if we have concerns about the welfare or safety of a child, including making referrals to the appropriate authorities and cooperating fully with any investigations.
Confidentiality:
Information about concerns regarding a child's welfare will be treated with the utmost confidentiality and shared only with those who have a legitimate need to know.
Confidentiality will be breached only in cases where it is necessary to protect a child from harm or where required by law.
Policy Review:
This Safeguarding Policy will be reviewed regularly to ensure its effectiveness and compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
Any updates or changes to the policy will be communicated to all staff members.
